Welcome to the Crittenton Community School!

Many middle school students struggle with a variety of challenges in the classroom. They can become frustrated and discouraged, and soon run the risk of failing or dropping out altogether.

At Crittenton, students work through their difficulties with one-on-one teaching time, using alternative learning methods individualized to each student.

Our mission is to empower students to become successful in the classroom and responsible members of community through a nurturing, individualized educational experience.

  • How it Works
  • Students in grades 6-9 enrolled at Crittenton develop individualized learning plans with our team of highly qualified teachers. The students receive:
    • one-on-one personalized instruction sessions
with a teacher at the school, in a local library or at a DFYF community center
    • educational community field trips
    • preparation for transition into secondary and post-secondary options
    • additional support for students and their
families through services from Directions for Youth and Families

Our school is flexible, innovative and responsive!
